A Local Business Reinvented During COVID

Josue CorderoJosue Cordero took reinventing his business, Capture Audio Visual, to a whole new level since Covid-19 began.

2020 started out as a year with projected profits and opportunities for many businesses and then we came to a screeching halt. Josue went from a calendar filled with weddings and corporate photography sessions, to an inbox of cancellations and postponed engagements.

“When your business provides a service to people hosting events and all of a sudden there are no more events, what do you do, ” Josue reflected.

Josue had a wife and newborn at home and worried about how he would support his family in an uncertain business climate. But, like any great entrepreneur, Josue analyzed his skill sets and accessible resources then got to brainstorming.

Josue had the opportunity to consult with the incredible business support team from Prospera, a nonprofit that assists the Hispanic business community. He was also able to take advantage of Clearwater’s Back to Business Grant and Professional Services program to launch a new branch of his company focused on digital training.

This was unfamiliar territory for Josue, so he knew there would be a steep learning curve and precious little time to figure things out before the money dried up. The Back to Business Grant enabled him to invest in a sales funnel/membership website, which he learned to build and manage all on his own. His relationship with Prospera also allowed him the opportunity to seek marketing ideas and guidance from experts.

In addition to learning an entire website platform, Josue needed to figure out social advertising. He was able to leverage the Back to Business Grant from Clearwater to invest in educational programs and put his newly acquired knowledge to work.

Since launching, Josue has created 3 courses with another 2 on deck. Each course is serving the Hispanic market and has attracted students in Peru, Argentina, and Mexico. What is even more exciting, is how fast he was able to turn his newly learned social advertising knowledge into considerable profits!

His programs average $20 to the consumer, and with a $2,000 social media ad spend he was able to generate $10,000 of revenue!

Speaking as someone in this course marketing space, these results are incredible! Not only did Josue turn $2,000 in social media ads into $10,000 in revenue, but this was his first digital program and attempt at running social ads – AND he got these results in a very saturated photo editing education market.

Josue, of course, would love to get back to event video and photography, but the lessons and skills he has been able to develop have provided a completely new income stream for he and his family. More importantly, this is an income stream that can be automated so that he can earn money online while he is shooting events.

We want to give a HUGE shout out and thank you to Prospera and the city of Clearwater for their incredible resources and support. We are so fortunate to have access to such an abundant amount of resources for entrepreneurs.

Tighten up those bootstraps, and get to it!
